Students should be reading and filling out their first book logs for the final quarter. Remember that 20 minutes of reading each night is a requirement for this class. You may read whatever you choose, but you absolutely HAVE to complete the book log.
Here is the form, if you would like to fill it out online.
You can also print out the log, and write it out by hand. This printed form contains the two logs that students will need to hand in by next Monday, April 7, 2014.
A 10% deduction per day will be taken for any late book logs. As this is a standing assignment, no extensions will be given.

We Need Pencils!
Students are running out of their supplies at this time in the school year. If possible, please send in more pencils and erasers with your student. This will help us finish the year strong!

Welcome Back
Welcome back from spring break! Hopefully students are revived and are excited to start their last eight weeks of seventh grade. My family and I spent a relaxing week on the beaches of Negril, Jamaica. I am eager to hear about my students' adventures over their break, whether they traveled far from home or spent a "staycation" in Indy.
Core Plus
Students in Core Plus will be continuing with their Achieve 3000 activities. I will also be introducing some ISTEP materials that will help them prepare for the upcoming May tests.
Reading
We will be ending our "School Days" unit this week. We will read the short story, "The First Day," by Edward P. Jones on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will finish out the week with an inspiring film, The First Grader. The film is set in Kenya, and is the true story of Kimani Ng'ang'a Maruge, the oldest person ever to start primary school.
Students should be reading every night for at least 20 minutes, and they should be completing their book logs. Two logs are due each week. An online form is available, as well as the written version.
We will also be preparing for the upcoming ISTEP tests in May.
You can always find the latest homework and assignments at my Planbook.
